The Vanishing Light || Lore Event
Posted 1 month ago :: Last edited 1 week ago by spectralswanThe Vanishing Light

“I’m so glad you could come on such late notice.” Pioette lightly touches her nose to yours, in a mutually respectful greeting, though her face was worried. “I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but the scouts we sent to Raydes came back with news that it was Withered again. They said it’s still not as bad as it was before, but it’s still the worst rot in Faia. The Archmages agreed to go with us now to see to it. Have you met them?”
You hesitate, perhaps embarrassed to not have—but, you had seen them from a distance, at Academy speeches.
“Don’t worry—you’ll meet them now.” Pioette beckons you towards the wooden doors at the end of the hallway, and you follow her into the meeting room.
Around the table are the Archmages: Fern, Ezra, Ephime, and Alastor. Fern seems pleasant, even in the dawning fear; Ephime juxtaposes her with a stern, almost regal demeanor. Ezra’s expression is grave, yet his demeanor is one of understanding. Alastor’s stare is intense, dark, and haunting, and you instantly find yourself staring at your paws.
“We’ve heard much about your spell on Raydes,” Fern praises. Ezra dips his head in acknowledgement, and you relax, feeling most at peace when you watch him. The others seem tense; Ezra is steady and confident. “Most impressive you could handle that.”
You dip your head respectfully in return.
“Alastor and I would like to see Raydes for ourselves. With you, Pioette, as you go,” Ezra muses. “I would like to hear your thoughts.”
You glance over to Alastor again, and flinch at his stare.
“Don’t you think a Tortuvina ride and a bit of magic would be more efficient than an airship for this quick trip?” He turns to you. “Have you ever ridden a Tortuvina, young one?”
You shake your head, and Ezra chuckles. “You’re in for a treat. Come, you four.”
You walk with the group to the bank of the campus river. A Tortuvina with dark mist and glittery purple skin is resting there, shaded by the great oaks, and Ezra bounds to them. “Zaelaria!”
“Ezra,” they reply, voice deep and warm. “What brings you here?”
“We’re looking for a ride.” Then, quietly, “To Raydes.”
Zaelaria cocks their head. “I see. Anaylizing the infection?”
“It goes deeper than we thought,” Ezra confirms. Zaelaria considers, and then invites you to climb onto their back.
Pioette, Ezra, Alastor, and yourself all nestle within Zaelaria’s mist, and you cling very tightly to their jewelry, unsure. “You won’t fall,” Pioette promises. “Don’t worry.”
Ezra was right—even if it was a thousand percent more terrifying, it was certainly faster than an airship. You arrive at Raydes in only two hours, although you had been quite sure you would fall and be lost in the ocean.
As Zaelaria settled into the water, they let out a sigh—one of genuine, deep sadness. As you clamber out of his mist into the sand, you see the damage once more.
Raydes is dark.
There are barely any trees left, as many of them were so rotten they had disintegrated from your spell months ago—but the growth that had popped up was Withered once more. The sand had even turned purple once again.
Alastor says nothing, and instead steps into the cursed sand. You watched, warily, as he scoops some of it into a bottle.
“Wow,” Pioette breathed. The sound of her voice is one of the only sounds on the island.
“I imagine we will need a spell, of course. A very big spell.” Zaelaria flings water a bit in agitation. “But you don’t have to be a mage to determine that.”
“Is there a way to determine what is actually happening?” Pioette curls up, halfway in the water, seemingly as deterred by the sand as you are. “We can restore the island with magic all we want, but if we aren’t killing it at the root, we won’t ever be able to fix this.”
“Alastor?” The Faian does not reply to Ezra’s call, yet he still hums thoughtfully. “Seems so. I imagine Alastor will be able to perform something for that. We can at least perform another Light spell to keep the Wither at bay, so we can investigate. With Raydes’ past, it’s too dangerous to search the island without doing so.”
Pioette nods. “I wouldn’t send any of my Guild members here alone, Light or not.”
“Would members of your Guild be willing to assist again, with a spell?” Ezra muses. “Alastor’s spells can be quite taxing. I imagine we will need a great deal of raw power for it. And, not just Light, which was your approach last time.”
“I imagine they will be willing; we were all quite disappointed to know that we could no longer explore the land. Though… are you sure they will have a spell?” Pioette looks over towards Alastor, who has walked onto the island quite a bit now, staring into the hazy, dark mist that had started to reform in the center of it.
“I’m sure of it. I can tell that he sees a lot of potential here.” He sighs. “What has happened to Raydes is grave. And it’s worrying—if this corruption ever moves past, and into our world… I’d hate to think of what that would bring.”
“Okay, so… big Light spell, plus big Alastor spell for a root discovery… then, we’ll know how to save Raydes,” Pioette confirms, and Ezra nods.
“More or less.”
“Perfect. Let’s assemble our Guild, once again.”

With the help of Faia's four Archmages, the Adventurer's Guild has established a cliffside base on the neighboring island of Wingwatch in order to defeat the Wither from its root. Cometfall || Event Overview
Posted 2 months ago :: Last edited 1 month ago by spectralswanCometfall
Event Duration: 4/1/26 - 4/30/26

It is time to witness a celestial phenomenon…
During the month of Cometfall, a relentless cascade of comets rains down upon the Realm, illuminating the sky with streaks of celestial brilliance. Today, Cometfall is widely celebrated by Faians across the Realm— but it wasn’t always this way.
When the annual comet showers first began, they were met with dread. Faians saw the phenomenon as a disruptive force; a hindrance to their continued development and duty as Lightkeepers. While most comets were small and relatively harmless, an occasional mammoth comet would plunge into a village, leaving destruction in its wake. Builders were always in high demand, and fear kept most Faians confined to indoors.
However, from adversity comes innovation. Faced with such a prominent annual setback, the Archmages of the Mage’s Academy turned to their magic for solutions. They focused their efforts on adapting the combat shield spell, hoping they could increase its scope to shield entire villages. After months of experimentation, they finally discovered the key to performing large-scale spells, and with this newfound knowledge, developed the shielded dome spell.
In the following Cometfall, the four Archmages traveled from settlement to settlement, erecting protective domes and seeking out local mages. To these mages, they taught not only the process of performing the shielded dome spell, but also the light spell, an enchantment that has since become vital in keeping the wither at bay across the Realm.
With the weight of fear lifted, Faians resumed normal activity during Cometfall. Gazing skyward, they looked past the threat and saw streaks of shimmering light, finally able to appreciate the phenomenon for its beauty. Gradually, attitudes towards Cometfall began to change, as Faians began to realize the unexpected benefits of the comet showers. In addition to the alchemic potential in the fallen comet shards, there was simply no way to put into words the feeling one experienced when watching starlit comets illuminate the night sky.
Sowara, a city formerly reduced to rubble by repeated comet impacts, was the first to hold a celebration when the yearly Cometfall began. Other settlements soon followed suit, embracing the once-dreaded event. Within a decade of the first erection of the shielded dome spell, Cometfall transformed into a Realm-wide celebration. More than just a display of splendor, Cometfall became a symbol of Faian resilience, growth, and a testament to their ability to turn fear into wonder.
Cometfall has begun, and Astra has powered up the Comet Catcher once again! Each Cometfall, Astra travels from settlement to settlement in her airship, the Comet Catcher, giving Faians across the Realm a chance to enjoy the splendor of the comet showers up close from the skies. To earn a ticket, Faians must help their community in some way and report to the Comet Catcher ticket booth, run by Lumina. Time to admire some comets and lend a helping hand!

Bloom Festival || Event Overview

Event Duration: 3/1/26 - 3/31/26

After a long season of hardship, the arrival of Bloom Season is widely celebrated across the Realm. During the annual Bloom Festival, Faians express their gratitude towards the land and the resources it provides through various seasonally-themed activities, many of which involve helping others. Each village holds their Festival separately with different traditions, but there are several universal Festival activities, such as the communal garden and balloon rides.
In many villages, it is common to to send and receive gift baskets full of native plant seeds (after making sure they won't become invasive in their new environment...), in order for each island's residents to truly appreciate the diversity of Faian flora. Faian fauna plays a large role in the Festival as well, as Faians go to great lengths to ensure the local wildlife continues to thrive after Frost Season. All in all, the Bloom Festival can look very different depending on each village and island, but regardless, it is a time for Faians across the Realm to come together and appreciate the bounty of their lands.

Operation: Reclaim Raydes || Lore Event
Posted 4 months ago :: Last edited 2 months ago by spectralswanOPERATION: Reclaim Raydes

The Sky-Port of Eldridia is more bustling than you have ever imagined they’d be. You knew there were tons of Guild members, obviously, but numbers aren’t quite the same as seeing the mass of Faians in person. Every meeting you’d managed to attend didn’t have half of the participants; many members didn’t have the luxury of living close enough to be there often. But, this summons had brought Faians from all waters to Kal.
As you draw closer, you finally conceptualize the immense size of the Guild’s biggest airship, The Glorietta Arcana. A Lumendra currently walking across the gangplank is but a morsel compared to the ornate rail next to them. Not to mention the Tortuvina circling the skies around it; they are certainly large, but pale next to the airship.
“You know where you’re going, dear?” A Candle Noodle with a record of supplies approaches you, and introduces herself as Felicity. “You’d better get aboard. We’re flying for Raydes in just a few beats. Grab that sack over there and take it to Pioette, will you?”
You nod, a bit anxious to board—you know you'll get airsick. But you balance the sack on your back and walk over the gangplank onto the Guild’s great airship.
You scan the crowd of Faians, looking for Pioette: a blue and green Candle Noodle with a plethora of wings. You see her near the hull, chatting with a group of other Noodles. Trying not to interrupt, you wait patiently at the edge of the conversation, placing the sack onto the planks. But Pioette does realise you want her attention, and she breaks the chat.
“Oh! I was wondering where that went. Thanks for finding it.” She looks down at you for a moment, and then cocks her head. “You’re a mage, right? Join our conversation.” You sit down, unsure, but listening.
She takes the sack, pulling out a glass prism. “This,” she says, holding it up to catch the stunlight, “will be the key to our spell.” You stare at the reflected rainbow of light that spills onto the deck.
“While our other Guild members work to clear the Wither manually—flames, lures, and light mist alike—we’ll channel our spells into this. Raydes will be consumed by Light, and the Wither will have no choice but to retreat.” Pioette turns to you. “Are you ready?”
⚔️ How to participate ⚔️
This is a Community Boss Battle event! Every action you take deals damage to the Boss, representing the Wither's presence in Raydes. For this event, there will be no set HP in order to gauge the community's damage capabilities for future events! Raydes will be restored to Light by April 1st, when the event ends!
I. Event prompts
This operation is our largest yet. We need every paw we can get.
Complete prompts with your Faian characters to deal damage! Every prompt has a different Wisp to Damage Ratio; the more detail and effort you put into your work (increasing the Wisp value), the more damage you deal to the Wither!
The Prismatic Array
Channel your affinity magic into the prismatic array. This is our secret weapon.
Glorietta Arcana
Keep the gears turning. The entire operation fails without your support aboard Glorietta.
Valiant Explorers
You are on the front lines on Raydes. Hold your lantern high and push back the Wither!
All Paws on Deck
Whether you are stationed aboard Glorietta or back at the Sky-Port, every paw counts.
II. Item donations
The Guild's supplies are being stretched thin.
Donate light-emitting items to deal damage! These items can be claimed at The Beacon for free or found via Exploration. Use Crafting to upgrade common items before donating to maximize your damage!
III. Daily login
As a Lightkeeper, just your prescence is enough to weaken the Wither.
Log in daily and visit the Boss Page deal randomized damage, no effort or donations required!
✨ THE SPOILS OF VICTORY ✨
This event ends in April, when Raydes has been restored to light!
Raffle
Earn Raffle Tickets by completing prompts! Additionally, every user who contributed at least once can claim 1 bonus Raffle Ticket via the Boss Page.
At the end of the event, everyone will have the chance to win these exclusive rewards...
Community Rewards
Once the event ends:
-
Lore Conclusion: Well, what happened? You'll find out in the lore conclusion! The end of this story will be added to the Main Storyline book, available to read in the Library at any time.
-
The Wither Journals: Chapter 1 of The Wither Journals will be permanently unlocked for all players in the Library. Additional chapters will be unlocked in future lore events!

Hello 2026!
It is officially 2026, meaning it has officially been 1 year since LK Launch!! This honestly makes me so emotional (if you want to read my huge ramble it's in the spoiler below dshgfdg). This year has felt so short, yet at the same time so long because of everything we've done together. Without further ado, let's take a walk down memory lane!
Here's a recap of 2025!
In January, we officially opened up LK and celebrated with a huge Anniversary MYO event!
In February, the Serpent's Glade was introduced, and Frost seasonal pets released!
In March, you began your Runestone-collecting journey with the Bloom Festival, coinciding with the release of the first seasonal site theme!
In April, we had some big releases: Skill prompts, Bulletin Board prompts, and the full map of Faia!
In May, we hosted the first Community Worldbuilding Contest, and even amidst the horrid annual exam season, you guys designed some amazing plants!
In June, new pets and traits arrived with Bay Season and the Rite of the Reef!
In July, we held an Artfight adjacent event, and your plant designs from May's Flora of Faia event were made official!
In August, we had some major lore releases: Guilds, new chapters on magic, and worldbuilding for sky islands!
In September, we enjoyed a month full of cozy fall vibes with the first ever Harvest Festival!
In October, the entire site was overhauled with new colors, artwork, and BABIES!
In November, we hosted a simple Discord Emote Contest! (the emotes are amazing)
And last but certainly not least, in December, the Serpent's Glade finally released after almost a year of Runestone-collecting!
I created Candle Noodles all the way back in 2022. I’d just started High School, and I spent my free time designing adopts to sell on DeviantArt. In early October, I designed the first Candle Noodle and thought, “huh, I should make a closed species!” I then proceeded to put everything together within the month and launched on Halloween. Looking back 1) I am so jealous of all the free time that 9th grade me had because HOW DID I DO THAT 2) You can definitely tell that “Candle Noodles” were named by a 13 year old... haha
I also had absolutely no clue what I was doing. There was not a single speck of lore to be found, it was just “candle noodles are goofy!” They had this horrendous trait sheet where all of the different rarity colors looked the same if you squinted. Candle Noodle wax color and paw-pads were also traited. I was manually rolling expedition loot and listing out everyone’s items in a very, very compact and unreadable spreadsheet before Adrian made an actually useable one (thank you). At one point, I was running 3 different Toyhouse Worlds because Candle Noodles, Lumendras, and Tortuvinas each launched separately. To everyone who’s been around and stuck with Faia since those olden days, thank you. There have been so many times where I’ve felt frustrated that Faia didn’t blow up overnight, or discouraged after comparing Faia to big ARPGs, but you’re the reason that I didn't quit. Faia would not be what it is today without all of the guidance and support I’ve received throughout the years from all of you and I'm just so grateful for that.
I also want to give a special thanks to all of the staff. To those of you who take time out of your day to check in and process submissions, Faia would literally come to a grinding halt without you. Thank you for everything you do, and thank you for bearing with me and all of the overly complicated design/prompt rules. To the artists, thank you for bringing Faia to life… the site would be really ugly without your banners, drawing banners=my absolute nemesis. To the writer, singular, aka Thea, thank you for giving this world such a compelling story to tell. I’m so incredibly excited for you all to finally see all of the lore Thea’s cooked up when I finally start releasing lore events this year. You guys also have Thea to thank for the anatomy guides and abolishment of ridiculous traits, 80 wisp fullbody values, and more. And lastly, a special thank you to Adrian for being there since day 1, and for all of the guidance and CS wisdom you’ve given me along the way. There have been so many times where, as someone who’s really only been in the CS space since founding Faia, I’ve felt utterly lost, but you guys have always been there to help me figure things out and I truly never take that for granted
I’m now a Senior in High School, and this ARPG has been one of my most fulfilling experiences throughout these past few years. I’m so thankful for all of the people I’ve met and become friends with through this community. It makes my heart so happy every time I see you guys get excited about updates, and I hope to continue bringing you lots of fun updates in 2026!
Frost Festival || Event Overview
Posted 6 months ago :: Last edited 5 months ago by spectralswanFrost Festival
Event Duration: 12/1/25 - 12/31/25

Frost Season casts a deep chill across the Realm, blanketing the land in ice and snow. As resources grow scarce and temperatures begin to plummet, Faians counter the season’s hardship by celebrating the Frost Festival, an event centered around the unbreakable bonds of community. Held universally in virtually every settlement, the Frost Festival gives Faians across the Realm a reason to look forward to the season.
During the Festival, each settlement maintains an indoor open hearth location. Seeking refuge from the cold, communities gather at these locations to relax and engage in shared activities like mending, knitting, and storytelling. Additionally, gifting becomes a core tradition throughout the month, as neighbors make a point of supporting each other. When a Faian bakes a fresh loaf of pastry or chops extra firewood, it is common to share a portion with those nearby. Indeed, in addition to celebration, the traditions of the Frost Festival ensure that every Faian is looked after by their community until the eventual Bloom Season thaw.
