Hello all! First off, I wanted to apologize for the general inactivity and lack of updates recently; as I’ve recently entered college and also started working on Lockheart, I’ve definitely been feeling a bit burnt out. If only there were more hours in the day sigh… Regardless, Faia is my baby and I plan to continue to keep the ARPG running as best I can! There will actually be a completely new event for November, the Nebula Gala!
However, aside from that, we'll be transitioning to mostly pre-established cycling content such as annual events, seasonal items, and monthly prompts. The storyline events will also have to go on pause for a bit, hope you all understand! Soon, I will be running 2 ARPGs simultaneously which I don’t feel is feasible as a college student, so there is a possibility that I will have someone else take over some of the bigger responsibilities such as event planning and newsletter updates. Until then, you can still expect regular monthly newsletters filled with our rotating content (which honestly shouldn't be too bad as it only repeats annually)! Thank you all so much for your patience, understanding, and support!! <3

Harvest Festival
The Harvest Festival is one of the most beloved celebrations of the year, focusing on gratitude for a bountiful harvest and, of course, delicious food. This annual event brings together Faians from all corners of the Realm to Arkala City, now one of Faia's most prominent cities. As Faians arrive, they are accompanied by airships carrying the local harvests of their home islands... soon to be made into mouthwatering recipes.
Upon the first arrivals, Arkala City practically transforms into a bustling open-air kitchen. Cooking stations can be found all around the plazas and streets, as Faians from each island prepare their signature dishes for the night’s grand feast. Indeed, these feasts are the main attraction of the Festival, held at dinnertime on weekends throughout the month. From hearty stews to bizarre-looking vegetables, these gatherings offer Faians the opportunity to not only appreciate authentic recipes from around the Realm, but also to befriend the unique Faians that they meet while sharing a meal.

Eeriels' Ballade
The Eeriels' Ballade has finally begun! Faians from all around the Realm gather on the coasts of Lylluna, waiting for transportation into the underwater city of Yfalos. Indeed, Yfalos' residents are hard at work preparing air bubbles, water breathing potions, accomodations for both Faians and Eeriels, and the music itself. They could use a hand!

Preparations are complete. The spell is ready to cast.
This lore conclusion will always be available to read from the Main Storyline book!
“We’re almost there!” shouts the captain of the ship. You rise, fighting your seasickness with the the hope that there was only a few moments of it left. As you glance up, your eyes meet Alastor, and you swallow. He stared back, unblinking, until you looked away, out at the horizon.
“You’ll need this.” Ezra rolls a scepter at your paws. “For the spell.”
Fern approaches as well, nodding. “It’ll be a lot to handle, but Pioette told us you can hold steady, after how you unleashed the first spell on Raydes.”
You nod, and pick up the scepter.
“All the Faians will channel their magic into the scepter at the same time, while Alastor recites the spell. If it works—sorry, when it works—the island will return to normal. And… we should be able to get a better grasp on the landscape. Hopefully… we find some answers.”
You avoid Alastor’s gaze, which hasn’t left you. You weren’t sure what that spell would entail, and that sends a chill through your entire body.
As the ship and their Tortuvina escorts come up onto the beach, the ship hushes. Everyone takes in the devastation that had emerged yet again: the dark sand, rotten foliage, and deep dark mist. You knew to expect it, but it was still quite disappointing, remembering how it looked when the spell was complete: fresh again.
As everyone dismounts, the murmurs between members are faint. Nobody talks too loudly, and most just listen to the wind and the waves. The air is thick with rain, and its density makes each breath heavy with the weight of the Wither’s potential.
“Look,” a Faian gasps, and heads turn to see a figure in the dark mist. A creature? On the island?
Someone shrieks, and everyone scrambles back in horror as it emerges. It’s a Candle Noodle—or something of one. They are rotten, eyes wide open and white, but flames impossibly dark, like a hole in the universe. Their body is slick with oily slime, Wither dripping from their jaw as it gapes open, tasting the air.
“What is that?” is the murmur across the crowd.
“A Withered Faian,” Fern breathes. You move aside to let her pass you.
“Everyone stay back,” Ezra warns.
Following the Candle Noodle are a few other shapes in the mist. No, more than a few—not more than your crew, but an incredibly freakish sight. The Lumendra lack lures, and Tortuvina mist is disturbingly dark, thicker than any smoke. Not a drop of light comes from the infected Faians.
“There’s more!” Pioette shouts. “We need to work this spell, now, before they overwhelm us.”
Everyone immediately goes into action. Paws pass all kinds of supplies between each other. The Mages construct poles with crystals on top, planning to channel magic into those, and then angle them to hit your scepter.
You position yourself in the middle, stamping down your anxiety as you observe the Withered Faians in the distance. They aren’t attacking, but they do seem to be sizing up what is about to occur.
In the midst of the preparation, the zombie Faians begin to advance, making themselves more clear. You imagine they contributed to the stench of the island—the black ooze seeping out from their orafices and gashes in their sides from unhealing wounds. They move slowly, but with observation.
Alastor glides past you, before turning to stare you dead in the eyes. You swallow and look at the ground.
“Ready, Alastor?” Ezra calls over the commotion. He nods.
The Mages set up the posts, and beam magic into them. They align their crystals, sending them into the prism that was your scepter. There is probably twenty streams of magic already touching your scepter as the Archmages prepare. Once their magic hits the scepter’s globe, it starts to shake.
Alastor begins to chant, and you shut your eyes, too terrified to watch him perform the spell.
“Send it!” Pioette shrieks, over Alastor’s ghastly chants and the roar of the wind surging around you. You give one last shriek, raising the scepter up. It explodes, a shockwave mass of energy nuking the air and rippling into the beyond. The sea roars as it is pushed with the force of the blast, but after, there is silence.
You look around. Alastor is hunched over, silent. Everything good is still standing—which is to say, only you, and the other Faians with you—and everything withered is gone.
The few remaining trees on the island were now toppled, too rotten to stand. The ground barely has growth, as the withering had consumed it, but the dirt is warm and soft, no longer brittle and dry. The Faians shake sparks out of their wax and fur as they look around.
“Looks purged to me,” Fern murmurs, sweeping her tail. “Again. Hopefully for the last time.”
Ephime’s voice is sharp as she speaks. “Look.”
Heads turn to where Ephime’s eyes lay. Near the shore, nearly touching the water, there is a Faian, sprawled out.
“Oh no.” Pioette rushes towards the body, worried. Dusting yourself off, you follow Ephime, Fern, and Pioette towards the shore, weary without your scepter.
Pioette looks over them, sniffing. “That’s not one of our Faians,” she announces. “I’ve never seen them before.”
“They’re dead,” Ephime pronounces. You wrinkle your nose as Ephime willingly pokes them, and leans in against their mouth, just to make sure they weren’t breathing.
“Did they die to the zombies?” Fern asks, a bit saddened. Whoever it is, you figure they must have died out here, all alone.
“No,” Ephime warns. “No, they were a zombie.”
“What makes you say that?”
“The Withered turn other Faians Withered, Fern. There’s no way that they survived on the island, yes—but they would have been consumed. We just purged the Wither with the spell, so they seem fine.”
“The zombies must have brought the Wither back,” Fern breathes. “Or, rather, it never left from the first spell. They must be spreading it back onto the island. We’ll never be able to purge it as long as there are Withered Faians on the island.”
“We purged the Wither from this Faian, did we not?” Ephime points out. Another voice breaks past Ephime’s, much deeper, more chilling. You turn, faced with Alastor—and you realise you have never heard him speak until now.
“Ephime,” he rumbles. He steps forward, sweeping his tail against the sand, raising his head as he stares at the Lumendra. “A soul hovers over this body. More souls… they hover over the water.”
Ephime swallows, sinking back, and you couldn’t blame her. The dark energy that cascades around Alastor has always been frightening. “What do you mean by that?”
“I mean it literally. This is what I can see with the spell. These souls never travelled to the afterlife.” Alastor looks to the sea, and all eyes widen once they spot floating bodies. You feel a pit open in your stomach. Those were the zombies. The blast sent them into the ocean.
“It is as we feared.”
“The Archways,” Fern breathes. “They’re—”
“Hush.” Ephime glares between you and Pioette.
“This is not just our problem, Ephime,” Alastor corrects, straightening himself. “They deserve to know.”
You shiver. Alastor knows too much, you think, and you fear learning more than the universe has bestown you.
“The Adventurer’s Guild has proved helpful thus far. We ought to have more paws to help us.” Fern looks to Ephime with an almost pleading expression, and Ephime huffs, looking away. “Pioette—will you help us?”
“I could never say no, but—tell me, what do you think has happened?”
“The keystones are part of the Archways. In ancient texts, they are said to unlock portals. We’ve known for some time that the keystones have been missing,” Fern begins, shifting the sand with her hooves. “But we haven’t known of the consequence of that.”
“We assumed the consequence was related to the Wither—that perhaps the Light is not strong enough without them, and that the Archways once provided Light. Surely the dieties would not leave us completely defenseless, and our Light can still be effective? But it seems as though they were more crucial than we thought.”
“We’ve suspected for a while that the Archways were connected to our afterlife. We’ve searched throughout the rest of Faia, and I have communed with the dead—we have not found access elsewhere. Now, we have confirmation.” Alastor waves a claw at the dead Lumendra. “Spirits are stuck, even when their bodies are decayed. And it’s been like that, since the war.”
“With them being stuck, they’ll just return to these bodies… and re-Wither,” Ephime notes. “We can’t save this island. Those zombies will wash back up, their souls will re-enter, and they will Wither.”
Pioette shivers. “So we need to retrieve the keystones… ourselves? To send these spirits into the Archways, and clear Raydes?”
Alastor stares at her, eyes unblinking. “The gods have left us here to rot. We must take this upon ourselves, and free the souls from the earth.”

And with that, our first ever proper Boss Battle event is complete!! As a community, you all dealt a total of 32,000 damage. ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!! I hope you all had fun, and keep your eyes peeled for future lore events, for the story shall continue! But first, we've got some prizes to give out!

Eeriels' Ballade || Event Overview

Eeriels are one of the oldest surviving species in Faia. At night, they love to float on the surface of the water and stargaze. The Yfalos clan believes they do this to read the prophecies of the stars, claiming to hear poems and whispered messages whenever they are near. Eeriels are highly respected throughout the realm, but especially among the Yfalos clan, who have taken on the role of their protector in recent years.
Before the arrival of the Lightkeepers, each island functioned in its own little bubble with its own seasonal system. For centuries, Eeriels have lived off the coast of Aurelia. Each year, they have taken a great migratory journey South in order to escape Aurelia's (unknown, pre-Lightkeeper) seasonal conditions. However, with the new universal seasonal system, this journey is extremely detrimental to Eeriel survival. Their destinational island is still withered and unexplored. In Frost Season, waters around the withered areas they arrive at freeze, forming a thick layer of ice. Eeriels are something of a claustrophobic species, known to panic if trapped. This state of high stress can lead to depression, paranoia, starvation, and more. A migratory journey that once ensured the Eeriels' survival is now putting it at stake.
The Yfalos clan noticed the Eeriels' annually dwindling population almost immediately, and took action. It is common knowledge that Eeriels are attracted to music, and will even stop to join in and sing. In order to delay the annual Eeriel migration as much as possible, the Eeriels' Ballade was put together. During the Ballade, Faian volunteers are transported underwater via floating bubbles and provided various magical resources to enable underwater living. Together, clan members and visiting Faians prepare instruments as well as accommodations for visitors and Eeriels alike. When the time comes, a perpetual melody floats from within the gates of Yfalos, attracting any Eeriels that pass by. The music continues until the migration fully halts in Yfalos. Eeriels are pampered with food and fun, until eventually they turn back home instead of continuing their migration.
The Eeriels' Ballade was born out of desire to save a species, but today, it takes on a much more positive tone on top of its purpose. The Ballade is a unique musical experience unparalleled by any concert or musical gathering, widely enjoyed by musicians and music lovers across the realm. It is even rumored that Eeriels now migrate with Yfalos as their new destination, knowing there will be music and food aplenty. Nobody really knows for sure, but even if this be the case, the Ballade continues annually with the same vibrant spirit.

Make some noise! For this year's activity, we are doing a giant collab artwork to celebrate the music of the Ballade. Participating will earn you extra Raffle Tickets as well as a spot in the final music scroll of 2026!
How It Works
1) Base: Download the base (music score background) here!
2) Draw: Draw your Faian on top of the base playing an instrument, singing, or making music in general! Please make sure the artwork is not cut off at any edge (the entire fullbody should be within the canvas).
3) Submit: Upload the finished artwork to this prompt as well as this Gallery. At the end of the event, everyone's segments will be stitched together to form a giant scroll of music!

You may create as many segments as you'd like, but only with your own characters and one segment per character! For each submission, you will earn the standard Event Prompt rewards plus an additional Raffle Ticket.

With the Archmages away at Wingwatch for so long, spirits are at an all-time low back at the Mage's Academy. An overwhelming sense of doom and gloom hangs over everyone's shoulders... until a strange tent pops up overnight. A traveling circus tent. It announces its presence early one morning with a sudden symphony of toots and honks, waking every Faian in the eastern wing. A crowd gathers around the tent, and out steps Bongo, an unnaturally large Lumendra dressed as a clown. He hops onto the ticket booth and begins to wave his front paws in the air, catching the crowd's attention.
"Come one, come all! Hello, stressed little mages!" his surprisingly booming voice echoes across the gardens. Several sudents cover their ears. "Your masters are out fighting the darkness, but who says you have to wallow in it? I have come to provide entertainment during this stressful time. Your studies can wait! Your professors can wait! For it is time to bask in the glory of BONGO'S TRAVELING CIRCUS!"
His announcement is met by a wall of blank stares. Perhaps this is because his audience is still groggy and half-asleep. But most likely, it is because they have never heard of Bongo, or his traveling circus, or anything of the sort appearing on Academy grounds. Bongo clears his throat, evidently expecting much more enthusiasm. "Tough crowd! Tough crowd!" he hollers. "Fear not! A true showman loves a challenge!"
Bongo motions with one of his paws, and the doors to the tent flap open. The crowd gasps lightly, then begins to "ooh" and "aah" in earnest. The tent is much larger than it appears to be, evidently using magic. Inside, there are three stages, each with a large array of props and performers. To the left, there is a wooden stage labeled "Comedy" by a large, crooked sign. A bright spotlight shines down on a Tortuvina struggling to juggle maraccas and protesting Mushbuns. In the center, there is the "Mystery" stage, lit only by the light of the masked performers. To the right, a shimmering rain pours down on the "Tragedy" stage, where three Candle Noodles twist and twirl in sync.
"Now that's the reaction I was looking for!" All eyes, now sparkling with interest, turn to Bongo. "Whatever entertainment you seek, we provide! You are all welcome anytime, day and night. For it is time to bask in the glory of BONGO'S TRAVELING CIRCUS!" This time, the crowd errupts into applause.

This Title Scroll allows you choose one of three themed event titles: The Merry Jester , The Masked Magician, or The Weeping Dancer. Claim your free scroll in the General Shop! Additional scrolls can also be purchased for wisps or won from Bongo's Bonanza (see below).

This is an Artfight-adjacent event! The primary way to participate is simply to create Artfight attacks featuring Faian characters. You can then cross-submit those attacks to our event prompts for lots of extra goodies!

The arrival of Bay Season brings with it a tradition of profound cultural significance: The Rite of the Reef. Generations ago, when Faia was smothered by wither, the Lightkeepers brought warmth and life back to the Realm, one island at a time. The Rite honors these efforts, celebrating light and uniting Faians together in shared purpose.
The Rite of the Reef occurs annually in Lylluna Reef, an island that has long since been considered the heart of Faia. Each night of the Rite, Faians gather on Lylluna's outer beaches and release their lanterns to the ocean. In this unified act, Faians from around the Realm create a tangible connection to their shared purpose, the floating lanterns not only symbolizing their achievements thus far, but each Faian's continued commitment to the Lightkeeper cause.

NOTE: Once you've completed the collection, you don't need to keep your Figurines! They can be resold from your inventory for 50 wisps.
Torrent runestone
Completing the Bay Festival Figurines collection will award you with the Torrent Runestone! This Runestone, combined with the 3 other Seasonal Event Runestones, will grant access to the Serpent's Glade and bonus ARPG content.

This event is a community exchange! You will design your own lantern for the Rite, and by the end of the event, that lantern (and a secret message) will drift into the hands of another Faian!
How to participate

Detailed instructions can be found in the description. Each player can submit one lantern.
Delivery
On the final nights of the Rite, from June 27 to 28, spectralswan will randomly deliver these lanterns to participants. You will receive a comment on your profile containing a fellow Faian's lantern, their message, and whatever gifts the community unlocks (see below) via item grants!

Sunlight streams through the many windows, illuminating displays of vibrant trinkets and curios. A brisk wind sets off some wind chimes in the distance, bringing with it scents of saltwater and blooming jasmine.
