Practical Uses
Lore & Culture
Old Zamnan tales tell of an ancient, gluttonous serpent that ravaged the forests, leaving destruction in its wake. When prey dwindled, the serpent refused to eat lesser fare and eventually died. However, it left behind a final, stubborn legacy. Blessed by unknown forces, the serpent transformed into the Bamboo Pit-cher, forever serving nature’s benefit by restoring the island’s ecological balance. Many believe the first segment of this tale originated from the deities, as a way to justify their imprisonment of the Immortal Serpent. While the Immortal Serpent was a wise and gentle soul, contrary to what is described in the Zamnan tale, perhaps this tale simply recounts what the deities feared.
