Pyre's Woven Warmth
Pyre and Spark made their way back to the Crypt, loudly she announced her presence. “We’re bAAAACK!” There was a sound of scampering of Agnarika, the Sqovet, before the young critter launched itself towards Pyre. It chittered and squeaked before pouting, Pyre would slowly place Agnari down. “You were sleeping! What did you want me to do? Wake you? You get grumpy in the morning.” She would joke, she’d look around the warm but empty home and look back at Agnari. “Where’s everyone?” Agnari would skitter off towards Cassie’s office.
Pyre would quickly remove the harness from Spark and place the supplies away. She would run after Agnari and hiss, “Wait up, Agnari! You didn’t need to run off like that.” She would sigh. The Water Rabbit Candle Noodle heard whispers, her perked up ears now being able to catch about everything now. The ears would twitch.
“Ophia? Of course it’s Ophia. Now, I’m glad you’re here Naia, I wish it was under better circumstances—and I wish it didn't have to deal with my sister, but… if this is true…” There was a pause, then a muffled sigh from Cassie. Pyre would only lean in further against the door, pressing her ear flush against the wooden frame as Cassie continued. “Then that means all those festival boxes were for something important. That these runes that appear once they’re all collected lead to the Serpent’s Glade.” There was another pause. “She’s always talked about it. She said that’s where she became a Diamond back, that our father and her found it and took a piece back somehow.” Another sigh.
“No matter, You, and Neivra are welcome here. You are family friends.” Pyre can hear them approach, causing her to shoot up like a scared catch, quickly ushering Agnari away. “Go go go go!” They made it around the corner and to the center floor. Pyre would dive into the items as Spark was putting them away, only to get yarn torn out of his mouth by Pyre. She would scramble into a seat within the living room, Agnari scrambled to curl up against Pyre, pretending to relax. The Water Rabbit would try to zoom through her knitting, trying to act as if she just didn’t start this warm sweater.
Cassie would come into the room and raise her brow, the weary look on her face washing away. “Pyre, you’re back. Having a go at clothing now?” The older Candle Noodle would joke. Pyre would laugh as she knitted. “Yea. Where did Naia and her friend go?”
“Neivra is her girlfriend. They’re staying with us for a while.” There was seemingly something that Cassie was holding back, but didn’t speak. Pyre knew that look, it was the same look before she was reunited with Nyx. She didn’t ask further. Pyre turned back to her knitting. “Oh, good thing I bought more yarn. I’m making blankets for the critters and I’m making us sweaters. It feels like the days are colder than the last.” She laughed.
Cassie laughed with her. “Maybe. But maybe being with each other looking out for one another warms up the soul. The company is nice.” Cassie would wistfully stare off into the fireplace, watching her critters curled up with the critters. It was a nice sight to see, it clearly eased whatever was going on within Cassiopeia’s mind—that was reassuring certainly.
Pyre would nod in agreement. “Mhm, that is what the Frost Festival is about. Community.”
