… Picking up from Outdoor Sketching.

Cassie gently sighed, occasionally keeping an eye on the nervous Jellyfishfish. Cassie gently hums to herself and continues sketching Indu and the stars above, her mind wanders back to the memory that had hit her earlier. Nyx… now who may be Nyx?

She washed ashore, gasping deep breaths before looking at the critter before her. The critter held on tight, driven to tears, pitiful crying and responding unintelligibly. Cassie whispers, “It’s alright, you’re alright…” She curled around the critter—curling around the Jellyfishfish unconsciously—and sighed, gently petting its soaked fur. She quietly sings to the unknown critter, who eventually sang along with her. For the quiet moments that filtered between them, the young creature calmed down. It was now a bit damp. Cassie gently placed down the critter and tilted her head. “What are you?” She questioned, staring at the sparkling golden horn on the apex of its forehead. The critter simply tilted its own head as she did, chittering back.

“Where did you come from?” She looked behind her, remembering that she was originally chasing a comet! She gasped, looking back at the Critter. “Did you get hit by the comet?” The critter shook its head. Cassie continued to ask, “Were you already in the lake when the comet hit the lake?” The critter shook its head once more. Then quietly she asked, “Did you come from the comet?” The critter squealed happily and nodded. The dark critter then pointed up at the sky. Cassie watched on as comets streaked the sky as she spoke to this creature. “You’re from the sky!” She exclaimed, tapping her chin. “Nyx. Like the night, I’ll call you Nyx.”

She didn’t have a lot of time with Nyx as her family eventually came looking for her. Nyx exclaimed and chittered, pointing up at the sky—wanting to return home. Cassie gasped and ushered Nyx off, “Oh quickly! You need to go! Go!” She watched as the critter rushed off as she looked back to see her mother over the hill, she ran back. “Mama! My wish! It came true! I met a friend!”

She thought about this particular moment anytime Cometfall came along. She remembered how often she drew Nyx, who later she found out was a Comyt. Not only did she want to find Nyx again, being able to take care of her, but to reunite with the one that started this goal of the Crypt. A sweet smile washed over her face as she looked at Indu, who was also longingly looking up towards the streaking night sky. Cassie laughed, teasing her critter. “With the way you look at the comets, you may be mistaken for a Comyt little one.” Indu looked at her curiously, as if she didn’t know what a comet was.

Cassie smiled, “Look.” She flipped to the first page of her sketchbook, there on the first page, dated seemingly last year around the same date. “These are comyts. They’re critters that come from the sky, in fact they come from comets.” Indu gave her a look, as if she didn’t believe her. “It’s true, I’ve seen one. In fact, she was the first critter that briefly came into my care.” She looked up to see more streaking stars. Indu cooed. “Hm? How do I know which are Comyts and which are shards? Well, their sizes. Shards are found away from lakes. Comyts don’t crash onto roofs or fields, that’s too rough for them.” She laughed. “They’re mostly found in Faelore. Some find them in other ponds, but they’re mostly in faelore.” She smiled.

She looked back up at the night sky and smiled, looking over to the sleeping Jellyfishfish as she continued looking up at the night sky. They are the reason why she does this.
