hello stranger!

i’d like to tell you the story behind this lantern. it was made by my candle noodle Wren, whose parents disappeared off the coast of Raydes a few years ago. the only things she had left of her parents were globs of wax and small sections of candle wick scattered around their house. for all those years, she’s kept them in a box and not dared to open it. but this year, before traveling to the Prismatic Pass to participate in the Rite of the Reef, she packed the box into her bag. at Vence, Wren finally opened it again and crafted a candle in her parents’ memory. this dragon boat was made to honor one of Wren’s sole memories with her parents, watching dragon boats race across cloud rivers. letting the lantern go symbolizes finally coming to terms with their death and moving on.

she still kept the rest of the wax though
