return of the booshas

It was a normal day in Bloom season for Faye, who was bringing home some berries, fruit, and leaves that he'd gathered in the forest. The birds were singing, the sun was shining, and the flowers were blooming, and as Faye flew through the woods with a basket of food on their back, he felt as if he didn't have a care in the world. They stopped for a moment to admire the flowers, and saw a little pink boosha hiding in the bushes.

"Aww, hi, little guy!" Faye couldn't help but stop and give a little pat to the cute critter. It scooted up to her wing and tried climbing up onto his back. Wait, thought Faye, does the boosha want my food? They did just wake up from hibernation... "Well, little guy, you're just too cute, so here," he said, then procured a small berry from the basket for the boosha to nibble on.

"Mrrp," squeaked the boosha contentedly, then it turned away and scuttled back into the bushes.

"Bye!" Smiling, Faye waved their wing at the boosha, then turned back onto the path she was traveling on, Humming a tune to himself, he didn't really expect to see not one, but two booshas now in his path. One was turquoise, like a boosha that their friend owned, and the other was a lovely shade of purple. "Aww, hello, sillies!" She smiled, looking at the two tiny, adorable critters. "Do you guys want food too?"

Faye knew that they couldn't understand her, but the booshas scooted up to him anyway. "Alright, fine, take these." He tossed over a couple bits of fruit to the hungry booshas (they couldn't be sure, but the booshas sure did look hungry), then turned away without a second thought back onto the path. "But that's it for you critters!"

He didn't plan to see the two booshas, and he certainly didn't expect to see anymore, but they probably should have, as she looked down again and saw three booshas below her. "C'mon, Faye, don't give them any more food, or else I'm gonna go hungry this week," they muttered to themself. Trying his very best not to get distracted by the booshas, she kept flying on the path towards their house. The trip was finally quiet for a bit, until...

"Mrrrp..." Faye jolted at the noise. It was a small red boosha. Of course it was a boosha.

"Sorry, little guy, I can't give you any more food," Faye tried to tell the critter, but then he looked behind the boosha, and her jaw dropped to the ground.

Not one. Not two. Not three. Not even four. But five more booshas were beginning to scurry towards Faye. "Oh, no, no, no, no, I shouldn't have given those booshas food ohmygosh– please!! I'm hungry!!" Faye cried, then quickly fluttered away from the mob of flowery bush creatures to rise high enough to evade them and still make it home in time.

Finally, he saw her house within sight, and the booshas nowhere to be seen behind him. With the biggest sigh of relief they'd ever made, they cried, "I'm never feeding wild booshas ever again!"
