The spring Equinox and a new volunteer?
“March 20th. Spring Equinox.
The Boosha are set to rise within the early morning, it is 5 AM currently. Pyre has decided to sleep in, I am not sure how Agni would feel if he wakes up and sees that his companion is not there to greet him. From what I’ve heard when it comes to companions, they get anxious or mildly depressed if loved ones are not there to greet them. I hope to not distress Agni, so I will send Marjani to awaken Prye if she doesn’t get up by 6. Let’s hope that the Booshas have not awoken by then, I await the return of Aidana from her slumber.
On another note, I hope to get fosters for the Sakura, Meadow, and the Nightlife Boosha into good homes. I can already see Pyre getting attached to the rest, but they do not have allocated companions. Most of the pets we have now are because Prye seems to become attached to them, we are taking on too many pets, we will need more Companions and volunteers to welcome the new awakening batches of pets that we are taking in. But most are busy with the Bloom season and awaiting their own booshas to awaken. Who knows if we have the funds to take on another. For now, it’s time to get Pyre up and await the Booshas.
Dr. Cassiopeia of the Critter Crypt.”
Cassiopeia finished up writing the end of her Journal entry before slotting the booklet away. She stretched and yawned, rubbing at her face before walking out of her room and descending the staircase of her place of work, talk about working at home. Cassie found it easier to live in the daycare, which it practically was, minus what the alliteration of the place insinuated the place to be. Living at work meant less chance of a critter getting injured and getting the quickest care possible. As well as getting up bright and early to get the hibernation schedules of the critters correct, as well as to minimize confusion or stress!
“Prye!” The doctor’s voice shouted throughout the crypt, it was a surprise that Cassie herself didn’t awaken the Booshas sleeping outside. There was no response, only a sigh from the dark violet Candle Noodle as she brewed tea for the Crypt crew. Once that was brewed and walked towards the guest wing to find Marjani herself barely rising. She gave the Lumendra a soft smile before nudging her head towards the kitchen area, “There’s tea within the Kitchen. A little pick me up before the Booshas rise. I’ll get Pyre up.” She smiled before heading towards Pyre’s guest bedroom. Honestly it wasn’t much to get the young Candle noodle to get up.
Stepping into the young Candle Noodle’s room was enough to arouse the apprentice. A sleepy grumble left Pyre before seeing Cassie standing there. It seemed she didn’t remember what today was for, let alone *why* Cassie decided to get her up so early. The fiery apprentice yawned, “What’re you doing here doc?” She frog blinked at her Mentor, there was poignant silence before Prye shot out of bed. Cassie knew she didn’t need to say anything, Pyre may be young but she wasn’t dumb! She smiled and stepped out of the doorway for Pyre to shoot out with such speed, she nearly toppled Marjani in the process!
“Woah there kid! Watch the tea!” She giggled, shaking her head in the process. Pyre was practically hopping around like a bunny. The rustic apprentice practically stuffed her face and shouted to Cassie who was coming down the hall. “Doc! Do we have herbs or flowers for the Booshas? Do we have seeds, Agni loves seeds.” She was practically talking a mile a minute, earning a laugh from the older Faians. Marjani patted the younger faian’s shoulder before giving her some wisps, “Here, get some seeds from the florist, you have around 30 minutes, kid.” She gave her a soft smile before returning to her own morning routine.
Marjani does not have a critter in this, mostly because she’s dealing with the Aquatic critters, but she cares for the fostered critters. Pyre and Marjani are thick as thieves, it’s why they’ve suddenly taken on so many critters. Marjani is willing to be their temporary companion until they find a home for the critters. Of course, some of these critters they fostered—such as the Lutris or Chombee—she had found a connection to and became their official companion. This is their own little family and Cassie and Pyre have a critter in this they are waiting to return.
Cassie opens the kitchen windows to see the slumbering Boosha from here, the distant slivers of sunrise bleed through the shrubbery behind the critters. She looked over to Marjani and smiled, “It’s almost time.” She looked happy, it was a warm day for the critter, a perfect time to arise. As she begins to head out, brushing past the vines of the backdoor. Looking towards the open window to see Pyre nearly crashing in.
“Are they awake?” She asked, bags of Seeds and herbs in her hands. Cassie gently shook her head and pressed a finger to her own snout to calm the young faian. She grabbed the bag of seeds and handed Marjani a bag and took one herself. She softly sighed, “We wait.” Her eyes remained on the bushy fur of her Boosha, cutely curled up with the others.
The wait wasn’t honestly that long of a wait as the sun warmed the young critters up, cutely rousing them as the buds on her pelts began to bloom under the golden rays. Aidana, like her companion, was the first to wake, blinking sleepy before cooing at the sight of Cassie. The Researcher smiled and shook a bag of seeds to encourage Aidana to scamper out. The violaceous Boosha’s beady eyes sparkled at the sight of the seed bag, wiggling out to feed.
The sight was cute, the other booshas now awakening from the commotion Aidana made, now squealing like a rodent and simply tearing up at the sight of Cassie. Cassie gently laughed and placed a mountain of seed in front of the chatty Boosha as she watched the others get up. Agni was the second to get up, practically screeching at the sight of Pyre and ugly crying as it flung itself towards her. Marjani collected the Sakura and Nightlife Boosha, the meadow Boosha stayed behind, being watched over by Cassie as it slowly arose.
Then suddenly, the Nightlife Boosha made a squeak of recognition before running off towards the backdoor entrance. The same one Aidana and Agni were making. Cassie frowned in thought, Did we recuse a lost Boosha? Certainly there had been times where they had rescued lost critters, especially those that were brought on expeditions or were simply out and about. So this wasn’t new to them at the very least.
Cassie looked over to see the owner of the Boosha, only to come face to face with a Tortuvina—a small one at that! She was the size of Marjani! I thought Tortuvinas were much bigger. The thought crossed her mind, a bit embarrassed to feel as if she was led to believe rumors. Before realizing, no they were entirely bigger. Cassie looked over this Companion before noticing the differing appendages. That instantly explained it! They weren’t a normal Tortuvina, they were a Meadow Pixie Tortuvina! The stature explained that a lot, and the pixie wings, can’t forget the pixie wings.
“Welcome to Cassie’s Critter Crypt, you’ve caught us at the right time.” Cassie begins to explain, sticking out her paw for the Pixie to shake. The Tortuvina sweetly smiled before hovering her wing over the paw. It was clear that they couldn’t touch, the claws of the Candle noodle would tear into the delicate pixie wing of the Tortuvina. But even with the slight ignorance, the Pixie grazed the wing against the top of Cassie’s paw.
“I’m Tiana, I’m interested in working with you.”
